Elizabeth City, North Carolina – The Elizabeth City Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred around 7:32 p.m. on Saturday in the area of White Street and Herrington Road.

According to ECPD, officers responded to the area where they were directed to a victim of the shooting in the parking lot of the American Legion Hut at 611 South Martin Luther King Street.

Police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Drequan Tyell Britt of Elizabeth City. Authorities say Britt was transported to Norfolk General Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
