Elizabeth City, North Carolina – The Elizabeth City Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting on Thursday morning.

According to ECPD, officers responded to Sentara Albermarle Medical Center in reference to a reported gunshot around 1:27 a.m. on December 26, 2024.

Police say officers were informed by staff members that the victim, 39-year-old Devaughan Leon Bell, had succumbed to his injuries.

ECPD alleges that the victim’s wife, 35-year-old Tanyce Kionna Griffin Bell, shot her husband during a domestic dispute.

Bell has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder. She is currently being held at the Albermarle District Jail without bond.

Bell will appear in court on December 30, 2024. No other details are available at this time.
