The El Paso Police Department has announced the arrest of 34-year-old Hector Zubia who is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Zubia is accused of shooting 19-year-old Sebastian Cardoza on September 6, 2024.

EPPD says its officers responded to the border highway for a reported shooting. At the scene, officers met Zubia who reported that the victim’s vehicle struck his car at least twice.

EPPD says the investigation determined that both vehicles stopped at the entrance ramp to 375 East. Zubia alleged to have fired a gun at Cardoza when he drove at him. Authorities say Zubia’s version of what happened was not consistent with the evidence at the scene.

Zubia was arrested on October 17 and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
