The Easley Police Department has confirmed one of its officers fired their duty weapon while dealing with a disturbance tonight. According to EPD, officers received a call about a suspect causing a disturbance inside Walmart at 115 Rolling Hills Circle in Easley. While traveling to the scene, officers were informed that the suspect was armed with a weapon.
Once officers reached the scene, they found the suspect and attempted to de-escalate the situation. EPD says at least one officer fired their duty weapon during the incident. The scene was secured and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division was requested.
SLED has assumed control of the scene and investigation.
