The Durham Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying an individual connected to a home invasion and sexual assault that happened in late November on Sima Avenue. Officers responded to a report of a home invasion in the 1400 block of Sima Avenue around 12:30 AM on November 25, 2023.

Once officers reached the scene, an adult female victim informed them that an unknown suspect wearing a ski mask had knocked on her door. When she opened the door, the suspect reportedly pointed a firearm at her and forced his way inside the apartment. Authorities say the suspect sexually assaulted the victim.

Authorities describe the suspect as a younger black male no older than 25 years old with a thin build. At the time, he was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, black shorts, black socks, and black sandals. Anyone with information is urged to contact Corporal M. Adams at 919-560-4440 ext. 29546.
