Dothan Police identify victim in Mance Newton Road murder and announce arrest of suspect

Dothan, Alabama – The Dothan Police Department has announced the arrest of 31-year-old Dustin Joe Rigsbee on a charge of Murder in the death of 31-year-old Harleigh Michelle Dills.

According to DPD, Rigsbee was taken into custody following a standoff in Jack, Alabama. Rigsbee was booked into the Dale County Jail without bond.

Police say a possible firearm assault was reported in the 4000 block of Mance Newton Road around 9:30 a.m. on January 24, 2025. The reporting party reportedly said that Rigsbee, who is a family member of the reporting party, said he had shot Dills at their Mance Newton home.

Officers responded to the residence where they found Dills suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police say Dills had been shot with a high-caliber firearm. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Jack, Alabama where Rigsbee allegedly fled out of the rear.

Following a standoff, Rigsbee surrendered to Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputies and an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency SWAT team. After being interviewed, Rigsbee was charged with murder.
