New York State troopers were dispatched to a residence on Perrin Road at about 7:30 p.m. on November 20, 2023, to investigate a domestic dispute. A verbal dispute turned violent when the victim was stabbed with a metal letter opener.

Troopers have identified the suspect as 33-year-old Shaqunna J. Latney of Malone, New York. Personal property damage by Latney was estimated to be valued at around $665. Latney struck the victim several times, according to the press release.

The victim did not require medical attention. Latney has been charged with criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment, criminal contempt, menacing, and attempted assault. Latney was remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail, $2,000 bond, or $4,000 partially secured bond.
