The Detroit Police Department has announced charges against a woman in the death of a three-year-old girl. Following an investigation by DPD, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has charged 30-year-old Iesha Harris in connection to the girl’s death. DPD says Harris is a friend of the child’s mother and was babysitting the child at the time of her death.

Authorities allege that Harris fatally assaulted the child at a residence in the 15700 block of Southfield Freeway in Detroit around 1:30 p.m. on March 17, 2024. Harris is charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse.
