Derrek Brave Heart has bond set in fatal shooting of Johnathan Odom

The Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office announced in a social media post that bond had been set at $250,000 cash for Derrek Brave Heart. The 29-year-old is charged in connection with a fatal shooting. Brave Heart is facing charges of second-degree murder, or in the alternative manslaughter in the first degree.

He is accused of fatally shooting Johnathan Odom on February 2, 2024 in the parking lot of 1445 Haines Avenue. Following the shooting, Odom succumbed to his injuries. On March 13, 2024, Brave Heart was indicted by a grand jury. The case is being prosecuted by Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Gina Nelson.
