The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office announced in a media release that deputies from the Norco Sheriff’s Office were involved in a deputy-involved shooting on Thursday. Around 6:02 p.m. on February 8, 2024, deputies were dispatched to the area of Hamner Avenue and 6th Street in Norco regarding a subject armed with a knife.

At the scene, deputies made contact with the subject and gave commands for the subject to drop the knife. Authorities say the suspect failed to follow commands and moved towards the deputies with the knife leading to a deputy-involved shooting. The suspect succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

No deputies were injured in the incident. The identity of the suspect is not being released at this time.
