The Denver Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a fatal stabbing. According to a social media post from the Denver Police Department, Gido Izquierdo-Ortega was arrested in relation to the stabbing death of an adult male which happened on November 23, 2023 near Park Avenue West and Lawrence Street.

Just before 11 AM, Denver 911 received a call regarding a stabbing. Denver Police Department officers arrived at the scene at 10:50 AM and found an adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Police say witnesses stated another person had been stabbed. At this time, police have not located a second victim.

DPD officers say the incident began when the suspect, Izquierdo-Ortega, approached a group, took out a knife, and began acting in a threatening manner. The victim attempted to intervene and was stabbed. Several bystanders intervened and rendered Izquierdo-Ortega unconscious. After being medically cleared, Izquierdo-Ortega is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.
