Denton, Texas – The Denton Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man on Sunday afternoon.

According to DPD, officers and Fire Department personnel responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Normal Street around 1:12 p.m. on Sunday. Police say a residence called 911 to report that an unknown male was unresponsive and lying on the ground.

The victim has been identified as Cody Stewart, according to DPD. Police say a second resident was involved in a disturbance with Stewart and the disturbance led to Stewart being shot.

The victim was transported to Medical City Denton Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No other details are available at this time.
