The DeLand Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that injured one victim on Friday evening. Just before 5 p.m. on September 6, 2024, DPD officers responded to the 800 block of Valleydale Avenue.

DPD says the preliminary investigation suggests several shots were fired toward a residence by a passing vehicle. One person suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to an area hospital.

No one is in custody at this time. Police are looking for a maroon sedan. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Craig Walter at Walterc@deland.org.
