The Del Rio Police Department has announced the arrest of 30-year-old Karen Aida Hernandez who is charged with Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death. Hernandez was booked into the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility.
DRPD reports that the Emergency Communication Division received a call from a citizen reporting a possible deceased individual on the side of the road in the 1700 block of US Highway 277 South around 6:35 a.m. on June 6, 2024.
At the scene, responding officers found a deceased male suffering from multiple injuries. The Criminal Investigation Division responded to assume control of the investigation. The Justice of the Peace also responded.
DRPD says it was determined that a 29-year-old Hispanic man was struck by a vehicle. The next of kin were notified. Police located a suspect vehicle at a local residence. Authorities say the vehicle’s damage and additional evidence corroborate the ongoing investigation.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly placed herself at the scene of the accident and acknowledged her involvement in the collision. As a result, Hernandez was arrested.
