DCI Investigating officer-involved shooting at Cut Bank bar on Saturday morning

The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer-involved critical incident in Cut Bank. The Montana Department of Justice reports that a Cut Bank officer witnessed a disorderly individual in the street outside another bar around 1:20 a.m. on June 8, 2024.

When the officer approached, the individual fled to a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the Pioneer Bar at 13 North Central Avenue. It is alleged that the suspect drove over the officer when out of the vehicle.

In response, the officer discharged his duty weapon at the suspect. The 42-year-old suspect was struck by gunfire and remains in critical condition. The officer needed medical treatment, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

The Cut Bank Police Department has asked DCI to investigate the vehicular assault and officer-involved shooting. No other details are available at this time.
