The DC Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a man on a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle on December 19, 2023. Authorities say the preliminary investigation indicates that around 9:47 p.m. on December 19, a male bicyclist was riding northbound in the northbound lanes of 1200 New Jersey Avenue Northwest.

A four-door black sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on New Jersey Avenue Northwest. The sedan crossed over into the northbound lanes to turn left onto Morgan Street Northwest. The sedan struck the bicyclist before fleeing the scene. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on December 28, 2023.

DC Police have identified the victim as 33-year-old Peter Black of Northwest DC. At this time, no suspect has been identified or apprehended. Anyone with information about this hit-and-run should call police at 202-727-9099.
