Homicide Branch Detectives with the DC Metropolitan Police Department are still investigating a fatal shooting that killed a man in Northeast DC. Around 6:55 p.m. on December 26, 2023, Fifth District officers responded to the 2600 block of Benning Road Northeast after receiving reports of the sounds of gunshots.
At the scene, officers found evidence of a shooting but no victim. Around 8:58 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 4300 block of Hunt Place Northeast for a report of an unconscious person. At the scene, a victim was found with gunshot wound injuries.
The victim passed away at the scene. Authorities say the investigation determined that the victim had been shot in the 2600 block of Benning Road Northeast although the offense location was initially reported as the 4300 block of Hunt Place.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old Ronald Crews of Northeast DC. Anyone with information about this incident should contact police at 202-727-9099.
