The Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District announced an arrest for Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest. Second District officers responded to the 2800 block of North Street NW in response to an individual spraying an unknown substance at two people and shouting an anti-Semitic phrase around 9:26 a.m. on December 17, 2023.

At the scene, officers located the suspect and apprehended him. The suspect’s vehicle was swept as a precaution, but no hazardous materials were found. Authorities say no injuries were reported in this incident.

MPD identified the suspect as 33-year-old Brent Wood whose last known address was in Toledo, Ohio. Wood is charged with Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest. MPD is investigating the offense as being motivated by hate or bias.
