The DC Metropolitan Police is investigating the murder of an 81-year-old woman in NW DC. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest in the slaying of 81-year-old Sharron Hilda Schwartz. Third District officers responded to the 1300 block of Corcoran Street NW in reference to a stabbing around 3:40 PM on December 10, 2023.

Once officers reached the scene, they found a woman inside an apartment with injuries. A man was also found with what authorities are calling self-inflicted injuries. Both were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The female victim passed away at the hospital.

Detectives say probable cause was established based on the on-scene investigation. 85-year-old Steven Schwartz was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. Authorities say the suspect and victim were married.
