DC Metro Police arrests man for First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse after abusing ex-girlfriend’s daughter

The DC Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a man for First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse. According to an MPD media release, the arrest was announced by the Police Department’s Youth and Family Services Division. On March 20, 2024, the suspect allegedly entered an occupied residence in the 1400 block of Smith Place Southeast

Inside the residence, the suspect engaged in unwanted sexual acts with the victim before fleeing the scene. On March 27, 2024, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 22-year-old Omar Ransom who was transported to the Sixth District Station.

Ransom is charged with First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse, Burglary One, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Detectives say the suspect and victim’s mother had previously been involved in a relationship.
