The Daytona Beach Police Department is currently investigating a stabbing that occurred at 300 Alva Circle. DBPD reports that its officers responded to the location around 12 a.m. for a report of a stabbing.
Police say they made contact with a witness who resides with the victim and the suspect. The witness reportedly said that the victim and suspect were still in the apartment. Officers found the victim unresponsive in a bathroom with multiple stab wounds, according to police.
The victim was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. DBPD reports that the preliminary investigation revealed that the witness was out of the apartment for most of the way. The witness returned and began preparing a meal.
Police say the witness checked on the suspect and victim when they did not emerge from their bedrooms for an extended period. The witness could see a light on in the bathroom when the suspect exited the bedroom.
The witness discovered the victim’s body. DBPD says 18-year-old Chadley Joseph is charged with First-Degree Murder in the death of 30-year-old Sham Telfort.
