David Martinez-Estrada in custody after being shot during burglary in Kissimmee Florida

A burglary attempt at a residence on Royal Palm Drive in Kissimmee, Florida has landed a man behind bars. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded to a burglary in progress at the aforementioned location.

Deputies made contact with the suspect who was still inside the residence. OCSO reports that the suspect refused to comply with orders and continued further into the home. A short time later, shorts were heard from inside.

The suspect exited the residence saying he had been shot. The suspect received aid before being transported to the hospital. The victim told authorities she had acted in self-defense when the suspect forced his way into the bedroom occupied by the victim and her family.

Martinez-Estrada was booked on charges of Criminal Mischief, Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling Unarmed, Stalking, and Resisting Officer without Violence.
