The Danville Police Department has announced the arrest of 25-year-old Marvin James Saunders Jr. for allegedly shooting toward another man. DPD reports that Saunders was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place, Reckless Handling of a Firearm, and Brandishing a Firearm After Firing a Shot.
The shooting in the 200 block of North Main Street did not injure anyone, but a vehicle was struck by gunfire. Police responded to the scene around 5:15 p.m. on August 15. DPD says officers learned that Saunders had fled the scene.
Two officers were in separate vehicles on North Main Street when they spotted Saunders in the southbound lane driving a white Dodge pickup truck. An officer was involved in a traffic collision while trying to catch up with the suspect.
The officer was not injured. Saunders was taken into custody during a traffic stop. He is currently being held in the Danville City Jail without bond.
