The Cumberland Police Department is investigating a shooting on Sunday. CPD reports that its officers and Cumberland Fire Department personnel responded to a report of an injured woman in the area of West Oldtown Road around 1:44 a.m. on June 30.
At the scene, officers discovered that the victim, 38-year-old Celina Smith, had been shot. The victim was transported to UPMC for treatment. Investigators say they believe that Smith encountered a person near the intersection of West Oldtown Road and Glenwood Street around 1:15 a.m.
At some point during the encounter, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim before walking away towards Glenwood Street. The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit and the Cumberland Police Department are investigating. No other details are available.
