Authorities in Flagler County, Florida have apprehended a Cranston home invasion suspect. The Cranston Police Department reports that officers responded to 66 Crest Drive for a report of a home invasion around 3:20 a.m. on August 24, 2024.
The residents informed authorities that two masked men with handguns entered the residence through an unlocked door. The suspects demanded the keys to a 2018 Ferrari Spider parked in the garage as well as a Chevy Corvette.
CPD says the suspects had intimate knowledge of the residence and the vehicles. The suspects left in the Ferrari and did not take the Chevy. The following day, the stolen vehicle was spotted on a Police Flock camera in Cranston.
CPD’s Detective Division identified the two suspects. Authorities say one of the suspects had an indirect connection to one of the residents. Last evening, a Rhode Island State Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver led authorities through Rhode Island and Connecticut until authorities lost sight of the vehicle.
New York State Troopers also pursued the vehicle, but the suspects managed to evade capture. On Monday night, warrants were obtained for 20-year-old Jonathan Costa and 18-year-old Logan Slezak for Breaking and Entering with Felony Intent, Using a Firearm While Committing a Crime of Violence, and Conspiracy.
Members of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department spotted the vehicle on Tuesday evening. A helicopter tracked the vehicle to a residence where it was hidden under a tarp. The stolen vehicle was recovered and Jonathan Costa was taken into custody.
Authorities are working to apprehend the second suspect who may still be inside the residence.
