The Coronado Police Department has announced the arrest of a Trona, California man in connection to an attempted kidnapping. CPD reports that a 16-year-old called 911 around 1:30 p.m. on Friday to report an attempted kidnapping near the library.
Authorities say the girl was waiting for the bus in the library park area when a man parked nearby and approached her. The man allegedly demanded that the girl get into his vehicle. When the girl refused, the man allegedly grabbed her arm.
Police say the girl was able to escape and run to a safe location before calling 911. The victim provided dispatchers with a description of the man’s vehicle and the license plate. CPD officers found the suspect in his vehicle approximately a block away.
CPD officers arrested Nan Wang who is charged with Attempted Kidnapping and Annoying/Molest a Child. Wang was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.
