The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for a person of interest in connection to a homicide in Myrtle Point. CCSO reports that it received a 911 call regarding a residential fire at 90845 Lampa Lane in Myrtle Point on July 26, 2024.

At the scene, authorities found a male inside the residence. The victim was transported to an area hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries on July 27 and was tentatively identified as 89-year-old Frank Sherman Sr..

It was determined that the cause of death was homicide violence. CCSO says 32-year-old Ian Edward Geer has been identified as a person of interest in the case. Geer was allegedly seen speaking to a woman before leaving the scene of the fire.

CCSO wants to speak to the woman in question. Anyone with information about this woman or Geer’s whereabouts is asked to call the dispatch center at 541-396-2106.
