The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announced that a convicted felon on parole had been arrested again. According to a news release, West Precinct officers discovered a crashed Audi Q5 on I-40 East early Thursday. Authorities say the behavior of the driver, who was later identified as 43-year-old Chance Mongeon, seemed odd.
Police say he was wearing a ski mask, had money falling out of his pockets, and was trying to retrieve items from the vehicle. When an officer approached, Mongeon reportedly tried to run but he was quickly apprehended. A search of the SUV led to police finding a loaded pistol with no serial number, a window punch, burglary tools, crystal meth, and what is believed to be fentanyl.
Police say they also found nearly 200 pills, three digital scales, four bags of synthetic marijuana, and other drug-related items. Mongeon was carrying $5,500 in cash. He was transported to General Hospital to be checked for injuries related to the wreck before being jailed. On May 29, Mongeon was involved in a collision while riding a motorcycle. He allegedly asked witnesses not to call the police and fled on foot.
He allegedly discarded items from his pockets while running, including a loaded pistol, marijuana, meth, cash, pills, heroin, and cocaine. Police say Mongeon appeared to be under the influence and had a fake Texas driver’s license.
