Authorities have announced that 46-year-old Jerry Tyree of Washington D.C. had been found guilty of aggravated assault with intent to kill in connection to a shooting in the 5900 block of Foote Street Northeast on November 29, 2023.

Following a four-week trial, Tyree was found guilty of the following.

• Aggravated Assault While Armed
• Possession of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence
• Attempted Possession of Liquid PCP
• Felon in Possession of a Firearm (2x)

Tyree will face a minimum sentence of 10 years’ incarceration for aggravated assault while armed. Sentencing is scheduled for December 13, 2024. Based on the evidence, the defendant met the victim around 2 p.m. on November 29, 2023 at the intersection of East Avenue Northeast and Foote Street Northeast.

The defendant and victim negotiated a price for oral sex. The couple walked into a nearby apartment building where the victim performed oral sex on the defendant. Following the encounter, the defendant accused the victim of robbing him.

When the victim denied doing so, Tyree pulled out a handgun and shot the victim directly in the penis before fleeing the scene. The victim underwent multiple surgeries.
