The Concord Police Department has announced an arrest in a recent sexual assault case. According to CPD, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault around 6:25 p.m. on April 8 that had occurred on the BART Linear Park trail in the area of Port Chicago Highway and the North Concord BART Station.
A female victim reported she was walking alone on the trail when she was attacked by an unknown male who forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The victim fought with the suspect who fled toward the BART station. The victim and a witness followed the suspect and called police.
At the scene, officers were able to identify the suspect responsible. CPD says they arrested 40-year-old Larry Ridge Jr. of Berkeley who is facing several felony charges. Ridge is still in custody.
