The Columbus Police Department announced it is searching for a suspect who is wanted for a fatal shooting that happened this afternoon in the 900 block of Fleming Avenue. Officers responded to the scene around 3:13 p.m. on January 24, 2024.

At the scene, CPD officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional where he succumbed to her injuries. The victim, who was later identified as 48-year-old Lacoya Whittlesey, was declared deceased at 4:33 p.m. by an emergency room doctor.

According to CPD, the preliminary investigation determined that Hill was the suspect. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call 911 or 706-225-3161 to remain anonymous.
