The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a shooting at the Walgreens in the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. CSPD reports that its officers responded to a call for service for an active shooter at the Walgreens around 1:30 p.m. on June 16, 2024.
At the scene, officers found an individual in front of the Walgreens suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Several witnesses told police that a possible suspect was still inside the store.
Officers entered the store and found one person who was sheltering in place. The woman was escorted to safety. Tactical Enforcement Unit members arrived and continued searching the store before confirming it was clear.
Around this time, a second person with a gunshot wound arrived at an area hospital in a personal vehicle. CSPD says the incident was a disturbance between two individuals with gunshot wounds. This was not an active shooter situation.
CSPD’s Assault Unit has responded to assume control of the investigation.
