The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office was involved in an officer-involved shooting in the parking lot of Ruby Tuesday on Tuesday evening. CCSO says it has requested SLED to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

Deputies responded to the location to assist the Walterboro Police Department in reference to a subject actively vandalizing vehicles by slashing tires and breaking windows. Authorities say citizens attempted to approach the suspect who was armed with a knife.

CCSO says a deputy attempted to engage the suspect who refused to drop the knife. The suspect allegedly attacked the deputy with the knife causing the deputy to fire his weapon. The suspect was fatally shot.

SLED is interviewed several witnesses. No other details are available at this time.
