The Cobb County Police Department was involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting on Friday night. CCPD reports that its officers were involved in an officer-involved shooting at the Walgreens at 2670 Cobb Parkway around 11:27 p.m. on August 9, 2024.

The preliminary information suggests that officers found a wanted suspect inside the store and attempted to make contact. An altercation ensued. At some point, the suspect was shot. CCPD says the suspect was armed at the time of the incident.

The suspect was transported to Kennestone Hospital where he passed away. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will take over the investigation. No other details are available at this time.
