Clovis Police arrest suspect in city’s second homicide of 2024

The Clovis Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to the city’s second homicide of 2024. CPD reports that the murder occurred at a residence in Clovis this morning and that it was domestic violence-related.

CPD says its officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 3800 block of Hampton Way on Saturday morning. Authorities say several family members and children were found in the home where an adult female had been shot.

Police confirm that the female victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. CPD says the suspect turned himself in to officers at the Police Department without incident around 1 p.m. on Saturday.

CPD has identified the suspect as 21-year-old Tavion Tapscott who was booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of Homicide, Felony Child Endangerment, and more. CPD says the victim is known to Tapscott although her identity is not being released at this time.
