The Clovis Police Department has arrested a 52-year-old Selma man for trying to meet a minor for sex. According to authorities, a 2-month-long investigation by Clovis Police Detectives concluded with the arrest of Adam Gonzalez of Selma. Authorities say the man didn’t know he was chatting with an undercover detective from the Special Enforcement Team who was posing as a 16-year-old female.

The investigation started in October 2023 when Gonzalez initially contacted the undercover detective. Even after the suspect learned that the girl was only 16, he allegedly tried to meet in person multiple times for sex. On December 21, 2023, detectives arranged to meet Gonzalez in a commercial parking lot in Clovis where he was arrested without incident.

Gonzalez was booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex crime.
