Clay County Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrested for filing false police report and leaving scene of traffic crash

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a fellow deputy for filing a false police report and leaving the scene of a traffic crash with property damage. CCSO reports that the arrest comes after Deputy Tyler North was the at-fault driver in a traffic crash on Blanding Boulevard near the intersection of Blairmore on September 17, 2024.

Authorities allege that Deputy North was on duty and driving his agency-issued vehicle when he rear-ended another vehicle. The deputy allegedly spoke to the other party before leaving the scene without making any reports of the crash.

North allegedly completed an official report in which he made false statements as to how the damage occurred to his agency-issued vehicle. CCSO says the arrest comes after an investigation by the Integrity Unit.

CCSO says Deputy North was employed by CCSO from November 7, 2024 until he was terminated today.
