The Chicago Police Department is searching for the man who attempted to kidnap a child in the 5400 block of North Kimball Avenue on December 27, 2023. Police say a 14-year-old child was standing on the sidewalk at the aforementioned location when the suspect exited his vehicle, grabbed the child in a headlock, and attempted to force the child into his vehicle.

The 14-year-old managed to break free before the offender fled north on Kimball Avenue. The incident happened between 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. on December 27, 2023. The offender is described as a white male between 30 and 40 years of age. He had a fair complexion, brown wavy hair, and a black jacket.

The offender was driving a black Jeep carryall with Illinois license plate #EE81455. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bureau of Detectives at 312-744-8261.
