The Chicago Police Department has announced a murder charge against a Berwyn woman. According to a CPD news release, 46-year-old Rosie Chavez is charged with First-Degree Murder and Kidnapping (Force or Threat of Force). Chavez was taken into custody in the 2600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue in Berwyn around 11:18 a.m. on March 22, 2024.

CPD says she was identified as the individual who fatally shot a 35-year-old man in the 3600 block of West 26th Street on February 10, 2024. Chavez is scheduled for a detention hearing on March 24. No other details are available at this time.
