The Chicago Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a December 2020 homicide. According to a news release from CPD, 22-year-old Angel Avelar was taken into custody by members of the Chicago Police Department and Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in the 1100 block of South Cedar Street in Glendale Heights on January 4, 2024.
Avelar is accused of fatally shooting a 57-year-old man in the 2300 block of South Wood Street around 3:11 a.m. on December 28, 2020. Angel Avelar has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder.
