The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest for Second Degree Murder. On January 31, 2024, authorities received a 911 call related to a gunshot wound. Deputies and paramedics responded to the scene where they found Amy Freeman deceased.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office carried out an investigation into the death. On February 19, 2024, the husband of the victim, Randy Freeman, was arrested. Freeman has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and two counts of Possession of Firearm by a Felon.
