The Broome County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 51-year-old Bryon M. Bump following an investigation into reports of sexual abuse involving multiple juvenile victims.
BCSO says that detectives received reports detailing years of alleged abuse earlier this week. Following the investigation, authorities charged Bump with Rape in the 1st Degree, Rape in the 2nd Degree (Victim Under 15 Years Old), and Attempted Rape in the 2nd Degree (Victim Under 15 Years Old).
BCSO says Bump was employed as a school bus driver for the Chenango Valley School District for six years. Detectives worked with school officials to take the accused into custody.
Bump was immediately placed on leave and removed. Authorities say the evidence suggests that the charges are not related to Bump’s position as a school bus driver and the crimes did not occur on school property.
No other details are available at this time.
