Charlottesville Police Department searching for suspect who assaulted two females on Rivanna Trail on Friday

The Charlottesville Police Department is searching for a male suspect who assaulted multiple females on Friday morning. Around 10 a.m. on January 12, 2024, officers with the Charlottesville Police Department responded to a report of an assault against a female on the Rivanna Trail between Riverside Park and Free Bridge.

Once officers reached the scene, they began searching for a suspect to no avail. Around 2:40 p.m., a second call came in about a second victim who had been assaulted near the same location just an hour prior to the first call. Neither victim suffered any physical injury, according to CPD.

Authorities describe the suspect as a thin white male between 20 and 30 years old and 6’2” in height. During one attack, the suspect was wearing a brown puffy jacket. In the second, he was reportedly wearing black pants and a sweatshirt. Witnesses say the suspect may have had over-the-ear headphones on.
