A man is behind bars following a fatal shooting in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced that its Homicide Unit was conducting an investigation in the 6100 block of Carver Boulevard.
Around 5:29 p.m. on July 9, 2024, officers responded to Atrium Health University for a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Homicide detectives determined that the shooting occurred in the 6100 block of Carver Boulevard.
The victim in the case has been identified as 19-year-old Marquez Alexander Summers. 22-year-old Demarius Jeprese Poole has been identified as a suspect in the case. CMPD says Poole was already in custody on unrelated charges.
Poole is also charged with Murder and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle.
