The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a recent homicide. Around 5 a.m. on March 17, 2024, North Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call in the 4300 block of Sunset Road. At the scene, responding officers found a female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. CMPD later identified the victim as 26-year-old Jaselyn Horne. Now, detectives with the CMPD Homicide Unit have announced a suspect has been charged. 20-year-old Malek Crosby was taken into custody on March 18, 2024.

After being interviewed by detectives, Crosby was transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder.
