Charlotte, North Carolina – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently on the scene of an officer-involved shooting.

According to a CMPD alert, the investigation is ongoing in the 4600 block of Wilkinson Boulevard. The alert was issued around 12:20 a.m. on December 29, 2024.

Update – CMPD reports that officers responded to a situation involving a male subject with a firearm outside of Coyote Joe’s around 11 p.m. on December 28.

Police say an officer perceived an imminent deadly threat and discharged his firearm. The male subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. CMPD says a firearm allegedly possessed by the subject was found at the scene.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation will lead the investigation. An Internal Affairs investigation will also be conducted.
