Update – After 7 p.m. on March 9, 2024, Westover Division officers responded to an Assist Medical with a suspected overdose call in the 400 block of Fairwood Avenue. At the scene, officers found a male victim who was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to a CMPD media release, it was determined that the victim suffered a gunshot wound at the hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. At this time, no other information is available.

Original Story – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is carrying out a homicide investigation. According to CMPD, detectives with the department’s Homicide Unit are investigating a homicide near the 400 block of Fairwood Avenue in the Westover Division.
