Update 2 – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has provided an update on the homicide in the 3500 block of Arvin Drive around 1 a.m. on March 24, 2024. CMPD identified the victim as 35-year-old Ramon Azular III.
CMPD Homicide Unit detectives reveal they have classified the case as a justified homicide. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office consulted with the Homicide Unit and agreed with the decision not to charge anyone in the case. The victim’s next of kin has been notified of the decision.
Update 1 – CMPD Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a death in the 3500 block of Arvin Drive in the North Division, according to a CMPD news release. Just after 1 a.m. on March 24, 2024, officers responded to the 3500 block of Arvin Drive for an assault with a deadly weapon call. At the scene, responding officers located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. CMPD detectives are speaking to a person of interest. No other details are available.
