Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charge additional suspect in death of 3-year-old Asiah Figueroa

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit has announced charges against an additional suspect in the murder of three-year-old Asiah Figueroa. The incident occurred on September 8, 2021.

On September 20, 2024, 25-year-old Datonio Stephens was arrested. At this time, Stephens is charged with Murder, Attempted Murder (Eight Counts), Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling (Nine Counts), and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

On January 5, 2024, CMPD’s Homicide Unit asked for the public’s help in locating Bryce Felder who was wanted in connection to the murder. Detectives say they obtained information that identified Felder as one of the suspects in the case.

Previously, Kaleb Lawrence turned himself in to authorities. He is also charged with Murder, Attempted Murder (Eight Counts), Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling (Nine Counts).

Jacob Lanier and Qua’Tonio Stephens are also charged in the case. On September 8, 2021, CMPD’s Homicide Unit shared video evidence showing multiple suspects shooting into a residence near the 2400 block of Richard Rozzelle Drive.

The shooting claimed the life of three-year-old Asiah Figueroa. Authorities say more than 150 rounds were fired into a house occupied by 11 victims. Asiah’s four-year-old sister was also struck by gunfire.
