Columbus, Georgia – The Columbus Police Department has announced an arrest in connection a stabbing incident in the 3900 block of Trask Drive around 4:40 p.m. on December 3, 2024.
Police say responding officers found 33-year-old Nigel Holmes suffering from a stab wound. The victim was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional for treatment.
According to a CPD statement, it is believed that Holmes was involved in a dispute with Shamone Huggins. The dispute allegedly escalated and led to Holmes being stabbed.
CPD says Huggins was arrested on the same day of the incident and charged with Aggravated Assault. On December 14, 2024, CPD was informed that the victim had passed away.
The charge against Huggins has been upgraded to Murder. Huggins is also charged with Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime.
